On a 7 km walking trail at Cannon Rocks.

CANNON ROCKS

A (few?) century old shipwreck next to the walking trail.

BOKNES

The approach to the Diaz Cross from inland. The cross is on the hill in the back of the picture.

BOKNES

A replica of the Diaz Cross. The original cross was erected by Barthlomias Diaz in the 16th century.

BOKNES

The approach to the Diaz Cross along the beach from Boknes. A 10 km return trip. The cross is on the hill in the back of the picture

PORT ALFRED

On the 36 km overnight canoeing trail on the Kowie river. Look out for rocks just beneath the surface. The Kowie river is a tidal river - Maatje and Marlene (in the picture) got stuck on the rock on their left - it was just below the surface during high tide!

PORT ALFRED

Exhausted, but we made it to the overnight hut! It took us (unfit) 5 hours to do the 18 km to the overnight hut. Try and coordinate the time of departure with the tides to prevent you from rowing against the flow of the water. You have to take your sleeping gear and food with you in the canoe. Enquire at the Riverside Caravan Park in Port Alfred.

PORT ALFRED

The Horseshoe Bend in the Kowie river. The jetty and overnight hut is in the left hand corner of the picture. You can climb to the viewpoint from where this picture was taken. There is a walking trail of approximately 16 km in the Waters Meeting Nature Reserve. If you want to do the walk, rather stay 2 nights and do the walk on the second day. The view point is on this trail.

BATHURST

The Bradshaw wool mill.

GRAHAMSTOWN

A sun calendar at the 1820 Settlers Monument. The sun shines on a specific stone on a specific date.

GRAHAMSTOWN

The 150 year old Camera Obscura gives you a 180 degree view of Grahamestown.

GRAHAMSTOWN

The meridian room was used to determine 12:00 according to the sun.

HOGSBACK

An 800 year old Yellowwood tree on one of the walks.

HOGSBACK

The Madonna and Child waterfall, one of many waterfalls reachable on foot via the many forest walks.
